USSD Application Development Platform
MobeeUSSD product uses Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) to provide bi-directional session based communications, allowing development of operator-specific supplementary services and providing a variety of applications compatible with nearly all legacy handsets.
Unstructured Supplementary Services Data (USSD) is one of the means of communicating in real time with backend server via GSM network. It is used to send text message between the user and application, similar to SMS. However, in contrast to SMS, USSD is not a store and forward service. USSD can be used in real time applications like, banking, stock trading, airlines & insurance related queries etc.
Features and Benefits
1. Compatibility
USSD is supported by all the legacy handsets. So, the USSD-Banking can be accessed using any handset without any overhead of manufacture specific builds.
2. Accessibility
All the services can be easily accessed using the session based USSD protocol. User have to type alphanumeric numbers on their initial screen and has to press their call button and then in very short time user will be connected to the USSD server using this protocol.
3. Speed
USSD application uses signaling channels to send data, moving load off voice channels and, consequently IVR system.
4. WAP-Copy
It provides WAP-like menu browsing features. With USSD supported across all phone models, WAP simulation [menu browsing] becomes available on every GSM mobile handset.
5. SMPP Support
SMPP was introduced to enable connection to SMSC, and later updated for USSD. Some service applications require minor adaptation to be compatible over SMS and USSD. Turnaround times are obviously shorted when USSD is used, SMPP is a very common protocol used to relay SMS messages.
6. Survey Notification
There is a well-defined need for effective Survey Notification system with feedback option. It can be used by operators for polling, marketing research and tele-voting. Applications that implement USSD are highly efficient and scalable. USSD application initiates a session with subscriber, sending out a request.
